Business Development Intern

  1. Job function (e.g., overall role, assigned tasks)

The job function:

  • Performed research to build a legal information systems database of law textbooks and legal resources
  • Interviewed and outreach to attorneys and organizations to gain insight into customer problem
  • Conducted market research to identify and evaluate legal challenges faced in underserved communities
  • Strategized a sustainable service-based business model

The first project was building a legal information systems database. My colleague and researched law libraries and legal resources to see what was available to the public and what we would have to purchase. We created a doc listing all the information. The second project was to create a survey for market research to understand legal needs of underserved communities. Lastly, the third project was to create a business model for the startup. We settled on Model-as-a-Service (MaasS), which is subscription based and can be marketed as a virtual customer service agent. What you learned and how it relates to your major (e.g., describe what you learned from this experience in the context of specific courses)

I learned the very basics of making an information systems database in the early stages as relates to this course, Fundamentals of Management Information Systems as well business strategy and collaboration that relates to Systems Design and Analysis class.
