Connecting with Confidence: Making Memorable First and Lasting Impressions
At this workshop, I listened to Jim Salas, Christopher Manalili, and Gina Illumio advise students how to organize our resumes and interviewing tips. I was surprised to learn that Jim and Gina recommended students write about our student projects. They emphasized that learning how to work with people is a skill employers want to hear about. “What was your impact in this project?” “What results did you achieve?” These questions helped me edit my resume and add bullet points for class projects. Onto interviews, all speakers shared the same sentiment of being yourself during interviews. It’s important to show that you’re a person instead of an employee, and to show that you’re enthusiastic about the job. These insights were important in helping build my resume while also de-stressing about the interviewing process.
