Getting Things Done

1. What you learned and how it relates to your major (e.g., describe what you learned from this learning module).

I learned how to prevent feeling overwhelmed by my work and how to make room in my life for more important pursuits as a result of the training. David Allen, a productivity and time management guru, outlines his five-step process for Getting Things Done, which includes task capture, clarification, organization, reflection, and engagement. The training is assisting me in improving my performance management and time management abilities. In terms of performance management, my major – MIS – may assist in tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and providing real-time data to managers, allowing them to make educated decisions to improve overall performance. MIS can give statistics on staff productivity, including how much time is spent on certain activities or projects, in time management. Managers can discover places where time is being wasted and devise plans to maximize productivity by examining this data. MIS may also help with scheduling and planning, ensuring that jobs are given to staff based on their availability and skill sets.
