My role as a Quality Specialist at ATS greatly relates to my studies at SJSU as a Management Information Systems major. Through this work experience, I got familiar and comfortable with the back-end processes of a major multi-million dollar circuit and wafer testing company. I worked closely was large data sets and softwares that helped, mine, collect, and analyze said sets. Data analysis is a field that highly relates to MIS majors as it helps analyze trends, make future predictions, and identify defects and areas of improvement. Strong fundamentals in Information Systems is important for both MIS majors and employees in the Quality Assurance field. Information Systems was implemented by me at Aehr Test to manage quality assurance tools and softwares to help track and report quality metrics. Lastly, one skill that relates between the two is high-level problem solving skills. As a Quality Specialist it’s not uncommon to run into issues and complex technical problems. An example of this is if a defect was found in a particular product, its the Quality Specialist’s task to identify further steps of action and whether more in-depth testing is required. MIS majors also need strong problem solving skills to ensure complex tasks are completed effectively. My in-depth experience as a Quality Specialist is highly relevant to the degree I’m pursing as an MIS major at San Jose State University.
