Computing Support Analyst

  • Job function (e.g., overall role, assigned tasks): As a Computing Support Analyst 2, my role centered on providing advanced technical support for Windows and Mac environments, software applications, and network systems. I was responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing service requests and work queues, maintaining security compliance with university IT standards, and delivering excellent customer service to faculty, staff, and students. I also collaborated with colleagues on larger IT projects and independently researched and implemented solutions to technical challenges.
  • Examples of projects (e.g., list the projects you worked on and what you accomplished) I refined Text Expander snippets for canned client responses. I also improved processes by completing an IAIS class, and I managed our client’s mailboxes who were at 80%/90% capacity project to keep usage below 80%.
  • What you learned and how it relates to your major (e.g., describe what you learned from this experience in the context of specific courses) Working on projects like refining Text Expander snippets, and managing mailbox capacities has given me hands-on experience in making workflows more efficient, improving processes, and managing system resources effectively. These experiences tie closely to my Management Information Systems studies, helping me see how the concepts I learn in class like IT systems analysis, project management, and workflow optimization play out in real-world scenarios. I’ve learned how small improvements in technology and processes can have a big impact on overall efficiency and user satisfaction. Being involved in IT support has also taught me the importance of communication, problem-solving, and thinking critically about how technology serves organizational goals. Overall, these experiences have helped me connect my classroom knowledge with practical skills, preparing me to contribute meaningfully.
