Student to Alumni Leaders Networking Dinner
I attended the Student to Alumni Leaders Networking Dinner on October 8th at the Student Union Meeting Room 4. After we all helped ourselves to some delicious Panda Express, we heard from the excellent guest speaker, Gerhard Brummer, a former SJSU alumnus who now works as a Walmart Fulfillment Lead for the Bay Area and Central Valley. He delivered an important speech about leadership and self-belief, taking the time to explain his background and how he achieved his current position. Afterwards, we played a networking questions game, asking alumni at our table different questions about their careers, such as how they manage a work-life balance, asking about their day-to-day, and learning more about their future plans. I got to speak with Orlando Leon, an alumnus who now works as a teacher for a local middle school specializing in business classes, and Thejass Krishnan, an alumnus who now works for Supermicro as a System Engineer. I greatly enjoyed the event and believe that it contributed to my public speaking skills, networking skills, and helped me better understand where to go next in my career.
