Learning Assistant (LA)
I have a Learning Assistant role at Peer Connections, SJSU in the Department of Physics. I Assist the professor in leading discussions and classroom management, talk with groups around the classroom, and ask questions oriented to help build their learning. I was a Learning Assistant throughout three lab sections and two online sections, serving over 500 students in a year. One project I worked on was the growth mindset project where I collected data and research from the course I was embedded in to present at Peer Connections the qualities seen in the progression of growth mindset in an academic setting. I learned that communication is perhaps the most important soft skill to learn and master as a business major and if I can’t effectively communicate then I can’t get the job done.
