Mastering My Schedule
After transferring from De Anza College, which operates on a quarter system, to San Jose State University, which follows a semester system, I have had to manage a workload of four or fewer classes within a shorter timeframe, while also adapting to balancing five or more courses over a more extended time period. Throughout this transition, I have learned effective time management skills, including prioritizing tasks and setting goals. In the process of adapting, I have attempted to utilize digital calendars, however, I found that I work best with handwritten notes, as they provide me with a visual representation of how I organize assignment deadlines. When prioritizing assignments, I consider both their due dates and complexity. If I anticipate an assignment is going to be challenging with limited time available, I break down the tasks into smaller, more manageable chunks, which allows me to complete the assignment to the best of my ability without any last-minute stress.
