Job Function:
As a Tech Risk Consulting Intern, I supported teams in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks related to technology and business processes. My role included analyzing client IT systems, reviewing internal controls, documenting findings, and assisting in preparing deliverables for client presentations. I collaborated closely with consultants to ensure our recommendations aligned with both compliance requirements and business objectives.
Examples of Projects:
Assisted in conducting IT risk assessments by evaluating access controls, data management practices, and system configurations.
Participated in walkthroughs of business processes to identify potential control gaps and suggested remediation strategies.
Supported the review of SOC (System and Organization Controls) reports and documented key insights for client deliverables.
Helped develop testing procedures for evaluating IT general controls (ITGCs), contributing to the accuracy of client risk reports.
What I Learned and Relation to My Major:
This internship gave me hands-on experience applying classroom concepts in a professional consulting environment. From my Management Information Systems courses, I used knowledge of databases, systems analysis, and IT security to better understand client systems and risks. My business management and accounting coursework helped me recognize how technology risks affect financial reporting and organizational decision-making. Most importantly, I gained insight into how consultants communicate complex technical findings in a clear, business-focused way—an essential skill for my career goals in consulting and business analysis.
