Exploring Careers in Management Information Systems (MIS)
I have attended the Exploring Careers in Management Information Systems (MIS) event online on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 4:00pm to 5:30pm. Hosted by the SJSU School of Information and Technology, Management Information Systems Association (MISA) and the Career Center. From the event, I learned what my career options are and where to apply for internships or jobs. The session also have alumni and professionals – Alejandra Alvarez (who is a Sales Operations Specialist from JPCPT Connectivity), Yash Gandhi (who is a Business Operations Manager from Adobe), Christopher Manalili (who is a EY Studio+ from Silicon Valley Leadership Group Intern), Jorge Arriaga Vargas (who is a Associate Technical Program Manager at Service Now) who share their experiences, internships, job paths, and advice on building skills for careers in MIS. Mr. Yash also offered to help with resume feedback and any related internship recommendation at his company.
This event relates directly to my major because MIS is my major and learning how to apply for jobs will help me with my career planning. I want to better understand the different career paths available and how professionals in the field got their internships and jobs. Learning from alumni will help me build relevant technical and communication skills, and understand what employers expect in the MIS field.
