  1. Job function

As the AV/IT Coordinator at Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church, I manage the intersection of audio-visual and information technology to support our church’s mission. My role encompasses a diverse set of responsibilities that ensure both the seamless delivery of our services and the smooth operation of our technological infrastructure.

Audio Visual Responsibilities:

Oversee and run live streams for church services and events.

Schedule and manage a team of AV volunteers, providing training and support as needed.

Operate and troubleshoot various AV equipment, including camera switchers, sound boards, and slide decks.

Step in to fill any role within the AV team to ensure flawless execution of our streams.

Information Technology Responsibilities:

Manage and resolve all tech-related issues within the organization.

Handle tech procurement to ensure our staff has the necessary tools and resources.

Administer and maintain approximately 40 staff computers.

Oversee the Active Directory and manage user access and security.

Experience with VM servers, VoIP phone systems, domain management, RFID badge security systems, domain controllers, Windows operating systems, macOS, Microsoft 365 Admin, and Google Workspace Admin.

  1. Projects

File Migration – Moving all our local organization files from a local server into the cloud. This allows for more flexibility in work flow and accessibility

Security system revamp – older security system only had local access to camera footage and took 12k dollars a year for security subscriptions.

I installed IoT cameras that are accessible through the cloud and lowered our subscriptions cost to about $100/month

Ransomware attack – when i first joined our organization security settings were more lax. A threat actor had logged into our file server and encrypted all our files for ransom. I was able to recover our files about a month back in time preserving most of our documents, mitigating damage.

I have learned many troubleshooting skills as well as people skills when I have to train employees on best practices for technology.

Many of these skills are applicable to management of information systems in MIS classes.
