Internal Vice President of the Society of Women Engineers
Job Function:
As the Internal Vice President of SWE-SJSU, I play a key role in leading tabling and recruitment strategies, planning the annual board retreat, and tracking board member engagement. I act as a liaison between MEP and WiE, and serve as a point of contact in the SWE National Connections Slack. In addition to these responsibilities, I assist in maintaining positive relations with members, potential members, and external entities. I also contribute to tabling, proofreading, maintaining the clubroom, and organizing WE Conference trips, ensuring smooth operations across various aspects of the organization.
Projects Worked on:
I’ve worked on several impactful projects during my time with SWE-SJSU. This semester, I independently developed and executed our recruitment strategy, resulting in 100 new sign-ups. Last school year, I contributed to “Wow! That’s Engineering,” a conference aimed at inspiring high school girls to explore the field of engineering. These experiences have strengthened my leadership and organizational skills while supporting the mission of SWE.
What I’ve Learned & How it Relates to Your Major:
Through my involvement in SWE-SJSU, I’ve gained valuable insights that go beyond engineering. I’ve learned the importance of community and the leadership required to foster and sustain it, which has been a transformative experience. These responsibilities connect to my major by allowing me to develop people management skills, as I collaborate with and lead others. SWE has provided opportunities that have strengthened my understanding of leadership and community-building, skills that are essential in any field.
