For SJSU Marketing Association’s “Garden Transformation” volunteer day at Emma Prusch Farm Park, our goal was to rally students to give back through hands-on gardening while strengthening community connection around local green spaces. The event resulted in a visibly refreshed area of the park through coordinated cleanup and garden upkeep, and it created a welcoming, service-focused space for attendees to meet and collaborate. We helped the park community and visitors by supporting restoration efforts and promoting ongoing care for a shared public resource. I learned how to drive turnout with a clear mission, translate a social post into real on-the-ground participation, and keep volunteers engaged by making the impact tangible and immediate.
