MISA Careers In Tech Event
This activity took place in the BBC 004 building, and was focused on speaking with, networking, and asking questions to tech industry professionals about their work experiences, how they got into their current positions, and the trends that they have seen in the tech industry recently. To start off, there was a question panel for the speakers, asking about 9 questions related to their work, the tech industry, and job applications, ensuring that attendees learned a great deal about these topics. After the question panel had concluded, attendees were put into groups with an industry professional or MISA officer to ask more direct questions to them and to get a greater insight. I personally took advantage of this time and asked plenty of questions that I had about how to work into a position in the industry, AI trends, and overall, my professional development. I learned a lot from this event, getting to speak with people who are further in their careers in a field that I am passionate about, as well as networking to make great connections that would benefit me in the future. This event gave me great confidence in my professional development journey, as well as helping me to network and make connections that have led to recommendations for job positions and many other opportunities.
