MIS 2501 – Enterprise IT Architecture:

Enterprise IT Architecture really lays out the framework for all things information systems and information technology. The course dives into the architecture of the IT field, but with an MIS-perspective. Flash research papers make students find a technical solution, and forces them to present it to business stakeholders in short-form. Students must learn how to present technical solutions to business people – a must needed skill in the workplace for MIS majors.

MIS 2502 – Data Analytics:

Data Analytics is designed to introduce students to working with business databases, as well as handling business data. Students use MySQL and R to solve business problems analytically. Data Analytics is extremely important because the ability to analyze, understand, and present data is becoming increasingly important to companies.

MIS 3501 – Data-Centric Application Development

Data-Centric Application Development is the class that develops students coding skills. Starting off with an overview of HTML and CSS, the class quickly jumps into using PHP and PDO to create and host websites. The basic skills learned in this class are ones young professionals must have a familiarity with to stay competitive in today’s working world.

MIS 3506 – Digital Design and Innovation:

Digital Design and Innovation teachs students about the roles and responsibilities of being a business analyst. Students are assigned a semester-long project in which they must create a prototype to present to their project sponsor. Students are paired with students in the Lead Global Digital Projects class, who have the role of project managers. The course develops student’s technical, communicative, and organizational skills.
