SJSU Sahaara Treasurer
I was responsible in taking care of all financial needs for San Jose’s premier Bollywood Dance Team, such as creating the team’s yearly budget, assigning the appropriate amount of money to the team’s many needs, and overseeing fundraising, financial planning, and funding. Collaboration with San Jose State’s Club Sports Finance committee to help arrange financials for 40 SJSU club sports teams, allocate funds to all teams, and prepare financial reports. Being the treasurer, I was responsible of handling and collecting all money due from team members for team membership, admission to competitions and events, as well as travel, as well as developing an adequate payment plan to maintain an ordered cash flow system. I was also in responsibility of creating the spending budget, holding the team and executive board accountable for adhering to the spending budget, and documenting all transactions related to the team’s needs. I was the primary account holder for bank statements and the key one in responsibility when planning events and fundraisers. Being an active Club Sports representative was a fantastic experience since I was able to help Sahaara coexist as an entity with SJSU. Having this role and maintaining it for a team of 21 students was a challenging yet an amazing learning experience for myself as well as my career.
