Writing in Plain Language
In this learning module, I learned how to write in plain language. I learned what it is and why I should be using it, along with anticipating my readers’ questions, and writing so my readers know what to do. I will begin with my main point, use headings to highlight my message, use bulleted lists to support my message, use tables to simplify complex content to increase comprehension. To write in a personal modern style, I will address my reader directly and break outdated writing rules. I will also apply writing in an active voice, brief, clear sentences, avoid jargon and abbreviations, and avoid noun strings and smothered verbs.
