In Class Speaker 10/3
Last Thursday we had a speaker come in for my Fundamentals of Operations Management Class. The speaker was Amit Kanda, and he is currently an SVP at Oracle Corporation.
He spoke about his academic and professional background. He also spoke about what it is like to be in Operations, both present and the past and how it\\\’s changed. He mentioned the Operations Organizations worldwide (and including Oracle) and the challenges that they face since the pandemic happened and explained some examples of how he and others have to think about the organization moving forward. As an MIS major, some of the ways that we can help is by forecasting potential problems and working on solutions before they even happen. Using some of the data, we can create a story on trends to see where other competitors are going in their direction to see whether the company will follow suit or take a different direction. One of the key takeaways for me is that in order to be successful in the organzation when I enter the workforce is that there is need to be forward thinking and have the ability to constantly pivot in different directions.
