Building Trust (2018)

The Building Trust module taught me the vital role trust plays in fostering productive and successful relationships, especially within a business environment. I learned that trust not only reduces employee turnover but also enhances innovation and team performance. The course emphasized the importance of demonstrating trustworthiness, even in challenging situations such as managing remote teams, by integrating consistent trust-building habits into daily interactions. I also gained insights into the two main criteria people use to evaluate trustworthiness, the five key predictors of trust, and how unintentional bias can affect trust. Additionally, the module highlighted effective ways to share achievements tactfully to build competence, as well as strategies for rebuilding trust through sincere apologies. These lessons are highly relevant to my major because building and maintaining trust is essential when collaborating across diverse teams, managing projects, and leading organizational change. Understanding how to cultivate trust will help me foster stronger professional relationships and drive more effective teamwork in any technology-driven business environment.
