CommUniverCity-Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA)

The goal of the CommUniverCity Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA) was a 10-15 minute interactive presentation to be created by San Jose State University students, who will be service learners for the session with an activity to engage the young audience to learn about entrepreneurship. The session will place importance on the skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur and ideas for creating wealth. The results of the project was unexpected in that kids are a different kind of audience that made me adapt to their style of learning for them to understand my team presentation and activity.

I learned that I was motivated about the performance, and putting effort into the content for my part for completing the project. The instructions for the project gave me information on my role and outcome of the project. I knew that the process of preparing a presentation to a young audience will require time and knowledge to gather the information and simplify it for them to understand. In my part of the team, I was assigned to do one part of the operations management topic and create a slide for it with two questions for the audience to answer. I started to do my part by doing research and collecting information about the topic. I wrote down the information in detail such as definitions, applications, and more. In the meantime, I had to simplify the information for the young audience by changing words and removing details that would complicate their interpretation of the information.
