- A movie that I have watched over and over would be Parasite by Bong Joon Ho. It’s more of a comedy in the beginning but then there is a major swap in tone in the middle of the movie that turns it into a horror and thriller kind of movie. I love the cinematograph of the movie and the plot is extremely touching yet terrifying at the same time.
- Currently my favorite sports team is the LA Lakers. I wasn’t really into basketball for the longest time but I really got hooked watching the 2024 NBA playoffs. My favorite player at the time and still currently is Luka Doncic. Like everyone else in the world, I was completely shocked when he got traded to the Lakers which led to me trying my best to watch all of their games. I was pretty bummed with their performance in the playoffs that year but I hope they can step it up for this year’s playoffs.
- Currently the show that I am watching on Netflix is called Alice in Borderland. It is a Japanese thriller series that is centered around the idea that the characters have to play death games to survive. It consists of 3 seasons, the 3rd season releasing very recently. I would really recommend it if you enjoyed the Squid Game series as it kind of follows the same premise but it involves more problem solving than physical skill.
- I’ve lived all around San Jose my whole life. My father went to San Jose State University as well. You would think that, if I have lived in San Jose my whole life, I would know my way around but that is not the case at all! I am terrible with directions in general and driving around in San Jose is no difference. I have a poor time remembering the freeway names and where the exits are mainly because I haven’t truly put in the time to remember them. I tend to get lost with the GPS on.
- The apps that I visit daily are gmail, canvas, depop, vinted, and my banking app. About a month ago I deleted all of my social media apps such as Instagram and I didn’t really use TikTok in the first place. I think it’s just generally better to stay off of those apps for my well-being. I check gmail and canvas frequently to see if there are any updates with school work or if there are any things I need to attend to in my personal email. I am a huge fan of clothing so apps like Depop and Vinted are my type of scrolling. They are apps where people sell their second-hand clothing. Lastly, I check my bank account frequently to make sure that I am not spending too much on food and clothing.
- The coolest thing that I have ever done, in my personal opinion, was hard flipping down a drop on my skateboard. If someone doesn’t understand skateboarding then that sounds very weird. To try and summarize it for someone who doesn’t know skateboarding, a hardflip is a trick on a skateboard where you flip the board inwards under you and then land back on the board without completely hurting yourself. To add to that chaos, to do that trick down a drop was most definitely as well a super cool thing visually and mentally.
- My proudest atypical accomplishment was placing second place in a video creation competition and earning $1000 for myself and $500 for my school. I took a film class in high school and I had the opportunity to enter a competition that was hosted by Santa Clara County. The prompt was to create a video that spread the word about sexual well-being and safe sex to adolescence. What better way to do so than to write a whole rap about safe sex, record it in public, and post it to represent my school?
