Captain of SJSU Sahaara

- I am one of the choreography captains of SJSU’s Bollywood Fusion dance team, Sahaara. I am responsible for creating an 8 minute set that our team would take to competitions across the country to eventually lock a spot in the national competition called Legends. I am also responsible for teaching the team the dance that I created. As one of the captains one of my tasks includes coming up with a theme and story that the dance is based on.

- Teaching a team of 21 dancers 7 pieces that are competition ready.
- Setting up an audition platform to recruit dancers that could have the potential to add their skills to the team.
- Working with other board members to create a theme that would succeed in the Bollywood dance circuit and would lead us to winning nationals.
- Coming up with dances of different styles (Bollywood, HipHop, Contemporary, Bharatnatyam, Kathak, etc.) that are unique than what has been seen before.
- What you learned and how it relates to your major (e.g., describe what you learned from this experience)
- I learned how to be a leader in through this role of captaincy. It relates to my major as business administration as it involves leading and working with a large team with everyone working towards one goal. This role also helps with my major as it involves coming up with new ideas to keep the team together and thriving towards the success for the business.
