For my Systems Analysis and Design class, my team designed a mobile ordering system for a local coffee shop that was dealing with long wait times during rush hours. I handled the cost analysis part – figured out what it would actually cost to build (one-time stuff like software and training vs. ongoing costs like web hosting and maintenance), compared our approach against two competitors using a scoring system, and ran the numbers to show when the investment would pay off. This gave me hands-on practice with the kind of work I’ll do in MIS roles – evaluating tech solutions, justifying costs with actual data, and making sure a system works for both the business side and the technical side.
