LockedIn with LinkedIn

This was an event organized by the SJSU LinkedIn student ambassadors. They were given complete creative control over it and hosted fireside chats, even inviting Cecily Hastings, a higher education account director at LinkedIn. She provided a presentation, giving the audience tips on how to successfully network and job search on LinkedIn. Additionally, Hastings urged that we make the most out of LinkedIn learning, alongside the certifications they offer, as a majority of students do not utilize such resources. She stated it would make your profile more personalized, differentiating yourself from employers.
I learned about how to further customize the filters on LinkedIn as well, with it being suggested that we follow alumni who work at companies we are interested in. This could lead to a useful connection and the possibility of an informational interview.
The event has strengthened my confidence in using LinkedIn to its full potential to develop my career.
