Uptown Family Hair Salon
Our group chose Uptown Family Hair Salon as our client business to develop an AI-powered online appointment booking system that improves scheduling efficiency and reduces communication barriers between Spanish-speaking hairstylists and customers. The goals of the project were to replace the salon’s manual phone-based booking process, reduce missed appointments using automated reminders, and improve communication through an AI translation feature that converts customer haircut preferences into Spanish. The project resulted in a proposed system that would improve customer satisfaction, reduce scheduling errors, save employee time, and increase operational efficiency for the salon. Through this project, we learned how to apply systems development life cycle concepts, perform cost-benefit and feasibility analysis, manage a team project, and design an information system that solves real-world business challenges.
