LL Course 3: Effective Listening
1. What you learned and how it relates to your major (e.g., describe what you learned from this learning module).
In this module, I learned that talking and writing doesn’t necessarily make good communication, instead it’s listening. Strong listening skills often results in great leadership. Five skills to improve listening, suggested by Brenda Bailey-Hughes and Tatiana Kolovou, are: recall information, look and comprehend the big picture, assess the information, understand body language, and empathize. This can heavily relate to my major because when you work with others, you have to effectively listen to the information they provide you and much more. Besides listening, understanding the tasks is another key component after absorbing the information.
