MISA Intern Roundtable

I attended a MISA Intern Roundtable on Thursday, October 2nd. They had interns from Tesla, Cisco, Grumman, and Deloitte in attendance. In every rotation, I got to learn from the experiences of a diverse set of interns, and they all provided different insights. The former intern at Deloitte mentioned that spamming applications for internships is not beneficial. They emphasized that you should apply to as many internships as possible, but make sure your resume is polished and tailored to each position. The intern at Cisco mentioned the importance of using the STAR method when answering interview questions. This helps you structure and organize your replies so the interviewer can follow along more easily. The intern at Tesla mentioned that to make yourself stand out, don’t be afraid to ask questions. This is beneficial because it shows the hiring manager how curious and your willingness to learn. This activity relates to my career goals because I was given insight into the experiences of interns in their application process. I learned from a lot of advice that I haven’t heard before, and I look forward to applying it in my internship and job application process.
