Vietnamese Student Association – Intercollegiate Council Representative
As the Intercollegiate Council Representative I act as a liaison between SJSU Vietnamese Student Association and the Northern California United Vietnamese Student Associations. I represent SJSU at meetings, and other events. I am directly responsible for voicing the thoughts of SJSU’s Vietnamese Student Association. Brining up our thoughts and concerns to this larger Vietnamese Student Association allows them to hear what we are thinking. I also help to market their events to SJSU. The Northern California United Vietnamese Student Associations works to host events that promote leadership, culture awareness, and fun. I work with 13 other schools to make their events happen. Some examples of these projects are Camp Horizons, Summit, Norcal Olympics, and LNY SJ. I also work with other schools to have smaller events. Each school works to host events promoting collaboration, competition, and culture. I am also in charge of a large event called Spring Roll King. At SJSU I hold a male beauty pageant that works to fundraise money for charity. Contestants will then answer questions and perform their talents to impress the audience and the judges to be crowned the winner. This event consists of contestants from 13 schools.
This relates to my major as it is giving me skills in management. I am working to host these large events that build a lot of my soft skills such as time management, event planning, project management, and leadership on teams. I am also working with professionals across many industries to host these events and fundraise the necessary funds that we need to host these events.
