In the “Effective Listening” LinkedIn Learning module, I learned how active listening is a fundamental skill for understanding others and fostering strong, productive communication. The course focused on techniques for improving listening, such as maintaining focus, avoiding distractions, and reflecting on what’s being said to ensure clarity and understanding. This skill is highly relevant to my Management Information Systems (MIS) major, as successful collaboration with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders often hinges on clear and effective communication. In the field of MIS, listening carefully to both technical and non-technical perspectives is crucial for gathering accurate requirements, identifying problems, and delivering solutions that meet organizational needs. By honing my listening skills, I will be better equipped to understand diverse viewpoints, minimize misunderstandings, and ensure that I contribute to building effective, data-driven solutions.
