Effective Listening
1. What you learned and how it relates to your major (e.g., describe what you learned from this learning module).
After watching the effective listening module I gained a way better idea of what makes listening actually effective instead of just hearing. According to Kolovou and Bailey-Hughes, it’s built on five key skills: recalling details, getting the big picture, evaluating what’s being said, picking up on subtle cues, and listening with empathy. Since my major involves working in teams and analyzing ideas, I now feel more reliable in conversations and better able to focus on understanding others instead of planning my next comment.
